Better Quality & More Balanced Development
We can do better! Sun Prairie is no longer a bedroom community. We need better planning and quality growth for our neighborhoods and businesses. We need to attract and focus on bringing new types of business development to our area that offer stable, high-paying jobs. We must also not ignore our existing business base and help them to grow and expand here. Sun Prairie needs to make sure we have the right balance of single family to multi-family homes.
Fiber To The Home
We need a partnership between the City of Sun Prairie and the Water & Light Commission to seriously explore the feasibility of fiber To The Home technology, that offers bundled Internet, Television and Phone service. It will give Sun Prairie a competitive advantage in attracting new business and provide residents a local service they can rely on. Sun Prairie Water & Light Commission is already in the telecommunications business and city residents have shown a strong interest.
The City Council Must Be Open, Accessible & Accountable
We can do better! Sun Prairie must create an environment of open government and reduce the use of closed sessions to the public. Citizens have a right to be part of the process. We can and should improve communication and relations between the City Council and the whole community, including the Sun Prairie School District and School Board. Give residents the respect they deserve when they take the time to address the City Council on issues important to them.
Fiscal Responsibility and Lower Property Taxes
We can do better! Managing taxpayers' money is a matter of public trust and should not be taken lightly. As a small business owner, I know about the importance of living within our means. I will work hard to wisely manage existing city resources, prepare for the future, and avoid more debt. Based on the report from the Dane County Treasurer, Sun Prairie has one of the highest city property taxes in the county. If elected, I will fight hard to reduce the property tax burden on our residents and hold the line on city taxes.
Quality of Live and Public Safety
We can do better! More than anything else, the quality of life in a community impacts the decision where to live. Streets must be safe, parks and playgrounds clean, and support for neighborhood initiatives promoted. Reducing crime in our community needs to be a top priority. We need to ensure that law enforcement has the tools and resources necessary to keep our children and neighborhoods safe.
